Newport boats started as Capital Yachts Corporation in 1971 when it's owners Jon Williams and Bill Smith bought the tooling of the Newport Fleet from Elgin National Industries, (a New York based company). Together with the aid of two top Naval architect Gary Mull and Cuthbertson and Cassian of C&C Yachts, they formed a new and updated fleet of sailboats from a 20 ft day sailor to 41ft cruiser which were manufactured & built until 1984 at their plant in Harbor City, California. The current owners have enjoyed day sailing & Coastal cruising this Newport 30 MKIII with its shoal draft & comfortable accomodations is an idea boat for a couple or small family.
